Ellie Hsu®

I am a Taiwanese-Canadian painter and illustrator based in Toronto, ON. I received my Bachelor of Design in Illustration from OCADU in 2023. Growing up frequenting temples in Taiwan, I am inspired from the Buddhist concept of impermanence. I question themes of the perceived reality and lived through moments in my practice by first drafting a collage. This is done digitally by fragmenting and dissecting the qualities of figures, objects, and spaces, searching for the interconnectedness between them. I then develop these elements into a composition and translate onto paintings or mixed media drawings.
